Queer Events . Our holy grail . without them , fostering community would be difficult. Sometimes you just need to be your queer self in a queer space. Without fear of being stoned down , or rubbing ‘GAY ‘ in their faces . Whatever that means. The fact that we can have those gatherings in a homophobic country such as this, adds to their fundamentality. However, community comes with the good and the ugly .

Here are five types of queer women you are bound to bump into at an event .

The crazy ex - There are only too many events that you can attend without bumping into your ex . And not the sexy ghost that got away , no. It’s always that one ex you don’t want to bump into . As soon as you see them you pray that you will atleast be civil with each other .

2. The love of your life - You met once at some event, stumbled upon her IG and declared her the love of your life ever since . She is sexy , intelligent, cultured…. you name it. A some sort of divine entry that lives in your dreams . And then here she is , in the flesh , looking as sweet as ever. Do you say hi ? Does she even remember you ?

3. The Flirty Friend- Planned or unplanned you bump into each other in almost every other event . You follow each other on instagram and can somehow say you are friends . One drink too flirty you realize that they are into you. Whoa ! You didn’t see that coming . Still you are not attracted to them and the last thing you need is to lie yourself into a none night stand.

4.The One Night Stand - You probably met on an app. As soon as your eyes landed on her you realized ‘ si urembo ni make up ‘ or rather in this case ‘ni filters’ . Of course you know better than to use apps now , but the ghost of christmas past is knocking . Either she is not as ‘sapio’ as she had declared in her profile, her ex’s name escapes her name every three seconds or she downs shots much faster . By the end of the night you have decided that it should be your last encounter with her . Thank the ancestors because the night is over and you don’t have to see her again , until now. 5. The friend - Platonic . Gets your jokes . You can laugh about tiddies and stuff. Similar or has very different dating patterns. Supports you . You know each other beyond IG . You can call to a family event. Rare breed . If you find them cherish them forever. You all need a friend you haven’t fucked.
